Listening

But round the end of a cucumber frame,
whom should he meet but Mr. McGregor!

...
Peter was most dreadfully frightened;
he rushed all over the garden,
for he had forgotten the way back to the gate.

...
After a time he began to wander about,
going lippity--lippity--not very fast,
and looking all around.

I almost got caught on the wrong side of the gate.
Well, not almost. But my sensors were thrown off
for about 24 hours. I was frightened.
I was saved by my team at the ready
slowing down
giving time
to let feet and stomach and head
all make their cases.
The deep and easy consensus brought the sensors back online.

I wandered about looking all around.

I wandered until I was tired.
Body team and life container
lets me sweat.
Eases the wrinkles out of my forehead.
If I die today, tell them I am happy
with who I am and how I lived.
The way the me-ness found its way out and out.
Thoughts of beauty, images of fields of flowers
my eyes fall to sleep like a dream.
I'll wake up again in my intricate unfinished life
and you'll point out all the imperfections
but it's alright.
I have my head and stomach and feet
and my smoothed forehead.
