Idont_USUALLYmakestatuseslikethis.jpg

HOWEVER,
this is an opinion that I am
sharing.exe
because it is qualitatively different from opinions
that I usually share and
VERY.mp3
different from similar opinions you might be
seeing rn.com/moment
on your feed.

But I don't usually share things like this.
This is different.
tHISS will be different.

And if I did make statuses like this
I would most certaintly
do them better than
than this.
I think.
LIKE.

Dissolution

Hey! You say-
I’ve got a lovely idea.
Envision this beautiful future-
And I can see it, sugar-crusted, a sunny day
A couple of curly haired kids
Swings, laundry, laughter, tears
We want it all, we say
Diapers, long nights, a mortgage
A house- with stairs, a new fridge,
Washer and dryer on the main floor
I want you -  you said.

We say all that, but here we go
Horrible messy monsters
We flail, flop, fuck a little
Talk too much probably
Share our feelings and hurt the other
Share the hurt and wound again
Honey bubbled future crusts over, flakes

I should be careful when I really want someone
That I don’t mistake the person for someone else
Another me, a better monster
A kinder family than the one I can from.

3 days off
you’re supposed to cherish these days
make something of them
savor the freedom
go somewhere special
have a little fun
but all you do is stay home alone watching
television shows about serial killers
and blood and death and breakups and tears
and your 3 days is ending and tomorrow you go back to work
supposed to be refreshed and everyone will ask you how it was
and you’ll lie
and say it was good

broken teeth

my teeth are broken for years now
when I was 15 years old I told my mom
take them all out and give me dentures
but she turned her back
probably facing back towards cooking the pork chop
(I only remember eating pork chops)

she got me braces
the orthodontist said I was highly evolved
she yelled at me when I didn't wear my retainer
and my broken broken teeth
rearranged themselves crooked
the day after Halloween sophmore year
my front tooth throbbed
I tried to swallow a tylenol at the spirit rally
sitting on the bleachers
but instead spat it out into the hair
of the girl in front of me
she didn't seem to notice

yes they've gotten yellower over the years
I don't remember when that started
but the dentist said there's no enamel left
and they soak up color
and the molar that never grew in
and the molar below it that leans towards my tongue
because there's nothing to keep it standing up straight

when smile big now
that's a reclaiming
a resistance against that same old pressure
lean into that

Fold

Got a scroll thumb,
a scold, a concerned hipster,
and the banality of outrage is this:
a sucking roomba outrage
of kitchen smudge,
pained blotting,
with the kitchen roll.

The cats don't stop,
neither does the news-

-suspended belief is the sustained anchor
of the tablet driven into the coffee table.

If I can drag it to the edge,
I'm almost to the
cookbook on the countertop.

louisiana, inevitably

Can't we stay another night, you said,
because leaving is hard and sad, you said,
goodbyes, they suck, that's all I mean, you said.

The couch was missing cushions,
the popcorn tin was empty.
The holidays were over.

But who am I to rip a chord
out from where it's plugged,
to dig a fingernail in between, to pry
and draaaaagg a paperclip away
from its magnet.

Beer cans in the garbage bin
beside the downstairs toilet and you
stumbling out the front door,
driving to a place to order
six more drinks–to go–paying,
with borrowed money.

DEVIL

Does the sky know about Rose Gold?
Has the devil taken this town?
Is the child supposed to return the toy car
to the top of the ramp
so strangers can take turns?

Does the dreary water notice
the panic heart, the midnight clamor
the holiday snow that softens it all –
even howling pain?

Do the airplane wings
know your name?
